Hook Scottish Country Dance Club
About
Hook Scottish Country Dance Club welcomes new members, especially beginners to build up numbers. The Club's more more experienced dancers help newcomers to learn the basic steps and formations. The Club dances to recorded music and each dance is walked through before the music starts. Hook Scottish Country Dance Club meets every Thursday evening (September - June) - 19.30-21.30 - at Newnham Club Room. Flat flexible soled shoes (not trainers) are best for dancing. You do not need to come with a partner. To get in contact or find out more, please use the enquiry form on the Club's web-site.
About Hook Scottish Country Dance Club
Scottish Country Dancing (not be confused with Highland Dancing or Ceilidh dancing) is very sociable. There is no need to come with a patner as it is usual to dance with several different partners during an evening of dancing. The basic steps and formations are easy to pick up. Dancers are grouped in sets, typically of 3, 4 or 5 couples arranged either in two lines, or in a square or triangle, and work together to dance a sequence of formations. Scottish Country Dancing can help improve your fitness.
