Crondall Petanque Club
About
The game of Boules played on a gravel terrain in almost every town and village in France has become a popular sport in the UK. Crondall Pétanque Club has a membership of around 100 players. Prior knowledge or experience of the game is not important. The club will provide one or more supervisors to explain the basic rules of the game and demonstrate how the boule is held and thrown. The usual format is for the supervisors to organise an informal melee where teams are selected at random from the visiting group and three rounds of games each lasting about 40 minutes are played in a session. The time spent on the terrain is therefore between 2 and 2½ hours.
